Taiping Lake Garden

Looking for a tranquil lake weekend gateway? Taiping lake garden is the answer; located near to Bukit Larut,Taiping . It's build on an abandoned tin mine (64 hectares), opened in 1880 it's the first public garden in Malaysia. It's popular with joggers, couples, wedding photos, and tourist. 

Attraction:
Tranquil lake, boat paddling, Huge rain trees (Albizia saman)  that stretching from the road into the lake, Taiping Zoo,  ten scenic lakes and ponds, bridges, tracks for jogging, playground,etc

Taiping zoo, Perak, Malaysia.

Taiping zoo is the oldest zoo in Malaysia , established in 1961 at Bukit Larut, Taiping, Perak. The zoo cover some 34 acres of land to exhibit approximately 1300 animals. It also has a night safari which begin from 8p.m.

8.30am to 6.00pm (everyday including public holiday)

8.00 to 11.00 p.m 
Open every night including Public Holidays

8.00 to 12.00 a.m
On Saturday nights and eve of Public Holidays.

review:
They need a lot more to improve this zoo some maintenance part is not properly done, while some cases is without animals ( visit on Sept 2011) hope they will improve, especially the facilities, animal hygiene  and health, i saw an obese Orang Utan here. Beside that more animal should be introduce in this zoo to attract more visitor like penguin, meerkat, Capybara, komodo dragon, tortoise,etc.

Hiking at Bukit Tabur (crystal Hills) , Taman Melawati, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Bukit Tabur ( Crystal hills)  located behind Taman Melawati, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It's a part of the 16km Klang Gates Quartz Ridge (it's almost 100% make of quartz-- claimed to be the largest of it kind). The hills is less than 500 meters high but it's not easy to climb up because of the sharp stone along the way up, some place is very steep and a misstep will caused serious injury or even death, so climb with caution. The Klang Gates Dam is located beside Bukit Tabur and can be view from the peak. It took 3-5 hours to climb the hills. The hills is full with coniferous trees, moss, shrubs, moss and orchids. 

Attractions:
Breathtaking view of Kuala Lumpur Downtown, Klang Gates Dam and surrounded by green vegetation, serow ( wild goat), orchids, moss, crystal, etc.  

Tips:
wear light 
 bring adequate of water supply ( to prevent hydration) 
 go early ( able to catch sunrise moment and the sun is hot at the noon)
long pants ( i get cut by the sharp stone) 
follow the sign on the rock
do not attempt to find your own route ( some place is very steep - CAUTION)
Sport shoe - for hiking
keep your foot on the solid ground 

How to go:
From MRR2 turn to Taman Melawati and follow the Klang Gates Dam sign, the hiking trial located about 50m of the entrance.
